Introducing Aurora

I’ve always had a fascination with outer space, so when I started Aurora Marketing Group I knew that I wanted to name my company something related to astronomy. I’m just captivated by everything related to space - planetariums, documentaries, photographs - even the smallest detail about space sets my brain on fire in the best way. The fact that some of the smartest people in the world are studying outer space and yet we still know so little about the Universe is inspiring and makes my curiosity go wild.

It was exactly that kind of mind-blowing, breath-taking feeling that I experienced on my recent trip to Iceland with my sister, when I saw the aurora borealis for the first time. We were in Jokulsarlon, and had visited the Glacial Lagoon and Diamond Beach earlier that day.

These were some of my favorite experiences of the whole trip - the beauty was unreal. While I wasn’t able to capture the northern lights in a photograph, the awe-inspiring show I witnessed is something I will never forget. Watching the unimaginably bright neon green lights dancing up and down as if they were taking flight across the sky, it really felt like Mother Nature was putting on a show just for us.

One thing that many people don’t realize is that the Aurora Borealis is happening 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Catching the magic is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

That is exactly how I started in this industry - the magic of being in the right place at the right time (combined with a bit of dogged determination). My first job in Consumer Packaged Goods was at National Beverage Corp. Instead of finding the job through a connection or at a job fair, I actually landed that position because I called their main number, asked to be connected to HR, and - I still can’t really believe it - was actually patched through to the company’s HR manager. I simply asked her whether or not they had any job openings. She replied that yes, they did, and so I applied, interviewed, and got the job in a matter of a couple weeks.

From there I built my career working for a diverse set of companies, from small start-up brands to large publicly-traded ones. Looking back, it makes sense that my career started with direct, authentic, human connection.

My strengths lie in my ability to communicate clearly, create authentic relationships, and provide the responsiveness, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through that people need to feel respected, confident, and at ease. It comes down to building relationships that are reinforced by reliability and trust. When I say that I’m going to do something, people know that I will get it done.

Over time I have established a strong network of people that I work very well with, and who work well with me - clients, vendors, and colleagues alike. Throughout my career I have noticed that people feel comfortable bringing questions and issues to my office, and I enjoy mentoring others. So I decided to follow my gut and started my own business.

Aurora Marketing Group launched in 2018, and to be honest, it wasn’t always a linear path. There were times where I didn’t have a team working alongside me, and I wasn’t sure what my next project would be. With hard work and perseverance I made it through the difficult days (or weeks) and I’m proud of how far Aurora Marketing Group has come.

At the end of the day, everyone that I work with is exactly like me: they do what they do because they love to do it. My favorite part of my job is when I see my team member’s eyes light up because they’re enjoying a project we’re working on, or when I’m working with a client and I can see that they feel well-represented and uplifted by our services.

I love empowering the people I work with, and I love branding and marketing. This is true 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. And when I’m able to see my work come to fruition it feels akin to being in the right place, at the right time. Everything aligns and I can see my passion manifested in its fullest, brightest light and color, reflected in the work that Aurora Marketing Group accomplishes.
